Biography

Matthew Williams currently lives and works from his foundry in Christchurch. He was born in the United Kingdom and over the past twenty years has worked in London, Dubai and Auckland.

In 2013 Williams established Crucible Arts, a specialist bronze casting foundry, located in Christchurch and started to undertake private commissions.

Williams is a sculptor who works with a diverse range of materials, including bronze, timber, marble, concrete, steel, and more. His deep appreciation for architecture and design is evident in his creations, many of which incorporate kinetic elements. By combining both natural and industrial materials, he delves into the essence of form. His work features bold lines and flowing curves that create a captivating sense of movement and clarity of expression.

Williams has exhibited with ARTIS Galllery since 2019.
