What We Do
ARTIS Gallery has operated as a dealer gallery in Auckland, New Zealand, since 1984. A contemporary gallery with a strong exhibition focus, ARTIS represents a diverse roster of leading New Zealand artists, many of whom have achieved significant national and international recognition.
ARTIS is widely recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading sculpture galleries. Since 2017, the gallery has hosted MANZ (Medal Artists New Zealand), presenting a major biennial exhibition featuring thirty sculptors from across the country. Large-scale works are also exhibited on a dedicated plinth located outside the gallery entrance—an established and highly visible feature in Parnell since 2013.
Beneath the gallery sits one of the largest private gallery stockrooms in New Zealand. This open-plan viewing space, known as the Basement Gallery, provides a unique platform for artists to display works on an ongoing basis, allowing for continuous engagement beyond the main exhibition programme.
