Biography
Anton Hart is a Wellington-based sculptor whose work bridges tradition and innovation. With a background in design and advertising, Hart pushes the boundaries of representation and identity, blending sculpture and text to create works that speak—literally and figuratively.
His recent work is a testament to his ability to transform simple, elegant ideas into profound artistic statements. By incorporating words into his sculptures, Hart invites viewers to engage with his work on multiple levels—visually, emotionally, and intellectually.

Recently Anton has collaborated with poet Jenny Bornholdt. Together, they explore the relationship between language and sculptural forms, developing the concept of ‘standing songs’—totemic pieces that celebrate the art forms they are deeply immersed in.

Anton has exhibited sucessfully with Bowen Galleries, Webbs Wellington and with {Suite} at the 2024 Aotearoa Art Fair and is currently a finalist in the 2025 RT Nelson Awards for Sculpture.
