Artists include Regan Gentry, Glen Hayward, Ben Pierce, Warren Viscoe and Harry Watson. Obviously the common thread of working in wood link these five artists but humour is also shared along with a healthy sprinkling of social commentary. ARTIS Gallery artist Warren Viscoe's work The Taxidermist & his Bride alludes to the delusion under which birds were caught and then preserved during the 19th and early 20th century believing that this was ultimately an act of conservation. These five artist's careers span 50 years of art making and will be a rewarding visit if you are in Wanganui over the summer.   [ BACK ]
