Choosing Fiordland as her subject Leenards captures the moody nature of the region.
The exhibition consists of 11 works on board and depicts some of the
less accessible parts of the area. With Fiordland experiencing the 4th
highest rainfall in the world these works are misty and dark. The use
of a darker colour palette is familiar to those who know Leenards work,
with any lighter sections holding a particular intensity.
Devoid of any human-made structures the paintings highlight the
remoteness of Fiordland and the insignificance of humans in comparison
to the monumental land forms.
