| George Baloghy Driveby Art - A Personal Odyssey |

Throughout his artistic career, George Baloghy has consistently observed the New Zealand landscape and the changes that have occurred within it. Baloghy has concurrently focused on iconic pieces of New Zealand art, producing parodic interpretations that nestle within the arena of Pop art.
In a continuation of this trend, Baloghy's latest collection of work shows him locating himself both physically as a subject
within his own paintings and conceptually as an artist within signature New Zealand regional paintings such as
Robin White's Mangaweka and Christopher Perkins 1931 painting Taranaki.
In painting the works for this newest exhibition, Baloghy has intimately studied the painting techniques of several important New Zealand artists such as Colin McCahon, Don Binney and Rita Angus and replicated it with admirable verisimilitude.
In the past Baloghy has himself been taught by some of the artists he is now observing while he features alongside these artists in the foundation of New Zealand Art History. It is this relationship of observance, parallel and homage that is present in this collection of ten new works by George Baloghy.
